new things take courage

I kept trying to ignore it—the idea of starting a blog.

"I don’t have time. I don’t know where to start. Even if I did, who would read it?"

But the thought didn’t leave me. It was quietly nudging me. And look, here I am.

Even as I write these words, the familiar questions linger: What if I don't get it right? What if I have nothing to say? What if no one cares?

What if indeed.

But the gentle whisper nudges me forward: What if you take that first step, and trust that the rest will follow?

Looking at this photo of me as a toddler, I see the side of myself that's always been there: wide-eyed, curious, willing to try—even without knowing how it would turn out. She didn’t overthink or wait for permission. She stared straight ahead with a look that said, here I am.

Here's the thing: courage isn’t about feeling ready––it’s about showing up and starting anyway.

Embrace the Nudges

Those quiet promptings matter. They’re not random—they’re signals to start, even if you’re unsure. You don’t need perfect timing; taking the first step is what moves things forward.

Embrace Imperfect

Beginnings are messy—that’s the point. The first word, the first sentence, the first attempt at anything rarely looks like what you imagined. Showing up and taking a step is where everyone begins.

Embrace the Learning

Everything is an opportunity to grow. Even mistakes and “failed” attempts aren’t setbacks—they’re shaping your story and your voice, helping both grow stronger, wiser, and more authentic.

Looking back, I realize this first blog post is its own small beginning—messy, uncertain, and quietly brave. Just like that little girl in the photo, I don’t have all the answers, and I don’t know exactly where this will go. But simply starting feels like the right place to be.

Maybe that’s all we ever need: a single step, a bit of honesty, and the faith that the process has its own purpose. 🫶🏼
